Cleveland Greats Concert Series: Evelyn Wright @ BOP STOP

The Cleveland Greats Concert Series, curated by Aidan Plank, features and celebrates the great musical contributions of musicians residing in the Cleveland area. Featured artists include notable performers, educators, and mentors to the musicians on the current Cleveland jazz scene as well as musicians spread throughout the world. The concerts feature musical selections from the featured artist as well as anecdotes and insights about jazz music and Cleveland history.

Tonight we feature (and close our our series) with Evelyn Wright on Vocals!

A professional vocalist for over 30 plus years. Evelyn has been entertaining like no other in the styles of jazz, R&B and pop. She has opened for the likes of Mel Torme, Joan Rivers, Harry Belafonte, Bob James, Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle among others. Performs the Tri-C Jazzfest annually. She was awarded the Jazz Legend Award from Tri-C Community College in 2008.

Awards include Best Female Vocalist in 1985 in conjunction with public broadcasting station WCPN. Evelyn has toured throughout the U.S and Canada performing in the top nightclubs and concert halls. She had the honor of performing for First Lady Rosalyn Carter, General Colin Powell and Oprah Winfrey.
