Inlet Dance Theatre is in-residence at The Music Settlement. Company members teach dance classes for students age 3 - adults. Dance classes for students aged 11 and younger can be found at Early Childhood / Offerings / Arts for the Young.

Inlet Dance - 10 Class Card (Fall 2017)

Want more flexibility? Purchase a 10-class card and take 10 classes throughout the semester on any Monday or Thursday at 5:30pm or 7:00pm. Adult Modern Dance classes instruct students in modern dance, specifically Hawkins-based Release Technique. Classes begin seated on the floor, progressing to exercises standing in the center and then to movement combinations across the floor. The 7:00pm classes focus on the foundations of dance Improvisation & Non Traditional Partnering. These classes are open to ages 12 and up at. The Monday classes are geared towards students at all skill levels, whereas Thursday classes are geared to an Intermediate or Advanced skill level. Notes: Please wear form fitting work out shirts and pants and a pair of socks. Please call 216-721-8580 the day prior to attending class to notify us. Your purchased card must be picked up at the Enrollment and Customer Service office during regular business hours at least 1 day prior to your first class.

Inlet Dance - Student Ensemble Audition

Sept. 11, 2017: This audition is required for all students who wish to be part of the Student Ensemble. Students will be notified of acceptance one week following the audition. The Inlet Student Ensemble is a pre-professional performance group that is open to students ages 12 and up. Student Ensemble members will increase their technical proficiency and dance literacy levels, learn rudiments of dance composition and performance improvisation, and have opportunities to view and critique dance performance. Students should come dressed and ready to dance (ie. sweats/ jazz pants and t-shirt)

Inlet Dance Children's Level I, 3-5 yrs (Fall 2017)

This program is designed to give children well-rounded and developmentally appropriate training. Each class combines Modern Dance techniques with creative problem solving instructions. In this level, children will be guided through exploration of space, music, and movement of the body.

Inlet Dance Children's Level II, 6-8 yrs (Fall 2017)

This program is designed to give children well-rounded and developmentally appropriate training. Each class combines Modern Dance techniques with creative problem solving instructions. In this level, students are introduced to Hawkins-based Release Technique. Students will learn class protocol, the progression of exercises, and how to participate in ensemble. Technique will focus on control, strength, flexibility, and mind-body integration.

They will also employ this technique to create and develop choreography and may even get to learn sections of Inlet repertoire that feature Nontraditional Partnering. These classes are open to ages 12 and up, at all skill levels.
