We create music experiences providing therapeutic benefit for adults with chronic illnesses and/or medical issues. Home-based music therapy sessions, facilitated by a Board-Certified Music Therapist, are designed particularly for those who face challenges in accessing services within the community. Our services provide opportunities to assist in pain management and anxiety/stress reduction through music-making, music-assisted relaxation and other techniques; aid in physical rehabilitation; enhance memory and/or attention; improve communication and encourage self-expression; increase socialization; facilitate family interaction; promote wellness and improve quality of life. Individual Music Therapy Sessions at Solon (2016-2017)

We create music experiences for individuals of all ages with special needs and/or medical issues. Sessions are built around the strengths and interests of each client. For young children, a tailored program can include singing, movement, songwriting, dramatization, improvisation, listening, and instrument playing. For elementary school-aged children, custom-designed sessions may help with task-orientation, auditory and visual sequencing, and symbol recognition and may include the above types of music experiences. For any age, music, combined with a variety of structured interventions, may increase response level, control, and independence. Adapted instruction is offered on piano, guitar, drums, and other instruments. An assessment for clients new to The Music Settlement is required prior to registration. Call (216) 421-5806, ext. 141 for more information.
