Maintenance Assistant

Primary purpose: The Maintenance Assistant position is to assist the Director of Buildings & Grounds in all aspects of maintenance and housekeeping. Duties include but are not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Mechanically inclined, ability to learn mechanical skills
• Electrical repair, troubleshooting, replacement
• Plumbing repair, troubleshooting, replacement
• carpentry skills
• Plastering, drywall, painting, caulking
• Boiler maintenance a plus
• Emergency response, Security
• Event set ups and tear-downs
• HVAC maintenance
• Housekeeping
• Snow removal and salting
• Yard maintenance, Landscaping
• Floor maintenance
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently
• Ability to read and follow detailed work and safety instructions
• Good community and interpersonal skills
• Work effectively as part of a team and willing to go the extra mile
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly PMs as assigned
• Open and close facilities
• All other duties as assigned

Educational requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of maintenance or trade school experience
• Basic computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications:

The Maintenance Assistant must personally adhere to all established personnel policies and practices of The Music Settlement. As a member of the administrative staff, the individual must encourage a respectful, healthy, and productive work environment for all employees, volunteers, and customers. Must pass BCI, FBI, and State of Ohio background check to work in an Early Childhood facility.

A qualified candidate needs to be honest, on time, neat, clean, want to learn, and willing to be a team player.

All new employees have a 90 day probationary period.
