La Folia Frenzy: A Full-Day Baroque Strings Workshop

Ages: 10 - 18
Session Length: 1 Day
Skill Level: Intermediate and Up

la-folia-frenzy-a-full-day-baroque-strings-workshop

Join members of Les Délices, Cleveland’s premiere Baroque chamber ensemble, for a FREE full-day workshop focused on Francesco Geminiani’s Concerto Grosso “La Folia,” based on Arcangelo Corelli’s Sonata “La Folia” from Suzuki Book 6.

Each session within the day-long workshop will explore a different aspect or element of the workshop’s theme: La Folia (or, Musical Madness). Along the way, participants will learn about Baroque style, bowing, and technique, while gaining essential chamber music experience as they learn and rehearse Geminiani’s concerto grosso without a conductor.

The day’s schedule will include presentations on Baroque rhetoric, group lessons on characteristic styles and techniques, full-ensemble playing sessions, and a brief faculty recital, culminating in public performance and reception for students and families.
