Winter Solstice - Second Performance 7:30 p.m.
A Signature Series performance | featuring The Music Settlement cellists
When: Dec 21, 2019, 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: University Circle
The Winter Solstice reminds us of the celestial cycle which shapes our year. While we live in a world of great diversity, there is tremendous comfort to be found in the fact that everyone on this planet works, plays, and sleeps under the same sky -- uniting us all.
This 60-minute program is designed for those with broad tastes in music, featuring classical, jazz, and contemporary cello ensemble arrangements, including the hauntingly beautiful work Bachianas Brasileiras by Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, scored for cello octet and soprano. Film footage of deep outer space, the moon’s surface, and views of Earth from outer space will be shown during the performance.
Lead by Ida Mercer
Natasha Simmons, soprano
