Chris Burge Trio Outdoor Concert @ BOP STOP

This weekend BOP STOP celebrates its 6th anniversary as part of The Music Settlement! Tonight we are thrilled to host the Chris Burge Trio featuring Chris on sax, Bill Ransom on drums, and Dave Thomas on keys for one of our last outdoor concerts of the season.

For this event we have fifteen tables generously spaced in our temporary outdoor seating area. Each table is sold for a flat rate of $50 and can accommodate up to four guests. The trio will be set up on our existing patio and will be more than 20 feet from guests. The inside of the club will be closed except for restroom use. Outdoor bar service and limited dinner food menu is available. You are allowed to bring your own food, too. Mask required.

Please order your tickets ahead of time.

----------------

Chris Burge: Since moving to Cleveland in 1998, Christopher has continued to perform with groups of various styles, including Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band, The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Jazz Heritage Orchestra, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame House Band, Cleveland-based musicians such as Evelyn Wright, Helen Welch, Dave Sterner, Ray Porrello, and Bill Ransom, and nationally known artists David Sanborn, Cyndi Lauper, Mavis Staples, Ronnie Spector, David "Fathead" Newman, "Little" Jimmy Scott, Bobby Caldwell, Benny Golson, Eddie Holman, Nancy Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Mathis. Christopher also is active in the recording studio, playing saxophone, flute, and clarinet for American Greetings e-cards, and is heard on the theme song of the WVIZ-PBS show "Applause”.

Bill Ransom: Bandleader, drummer and percussionist Bill Ransom is a musical chameleon - equally at home with classical, jazz, R&B and rock. With a style described as “physical, stirring, demanding, rare and personal,” Bill has toured and recorded with leading artists including Patrice Rushen, Beth Hart, Marion Meadows, Cecil Bridgewater, Diane Reeves, Mary Wilson, and James Newton. He spent much of the 90’s on the road with contemporary saxophonist Najee and R&B crooner Gerald LeVert and was featured percussionist on Mr. LeVert’s solo debut, “Private Line.” Bill has appeared a number of theatrical productions including “Love, Janis”, under the musical direction of Big Brother & the Holding Company’s Sam Andrew who noted “When Bill Ransom plays the drums he looks as if he is made of rubber and he makes every time special because he acts it out.”

Dave Thomas is a most talented piano and organ player. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Thomas was an original member of the R&B group, "Sweet Thunder". He has also performed with numerous artists including the late James Cleveland, Dizzy Gillespie, Albert Ayler, Jean Carn, David Ruffin, and Grover Washington. His musical involvement also includes musical theater as a writer, performer, and musical director in performances such as "The Living Cross," "The Audition," and "Black Nativity," which have played throughout the United States and Canada. He is also a gifted educator, having worked at The Cleveland School of the Arts, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University. He is the co-author of a book entitled, "A Child's First Book of Spirituals," which is the recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award.
