Explore the traditions of Cuban and Latin immersing yourself in beautiful melodies, intricate harmonies, and vibrant rhythms.
Together, we will learn five songs in Spanish and deepen our understanding of these rich musical cultures. A final concert will be presented on Saturday, June 21st for friends and family.

The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship is not an eligible fund for any camp at The Music Settlement. (This fund may be used for music therapy services.)

Gabriela Martinez began her musical studies at the Alejandro Garcia Caturla Music Conservatory in Havana, Cuba. She completed the high school music program at The National School of Music in Havana. Gabriela Martinez began her musical studies at the Alejandro Garcia Caturla Music Conservatory in Havana, Cuba. She completed the high school music program at The National School of Music in Havana. Later on, she moved to Santiago, Chile where she obtained the Bachelor Degree in Choral Direction and Vocal Performance at the University of Chile. In 2011, she received her Master Degree in Vocal Performance at The Cleveland State University(CSU).
Among all the musical and artistic activities performed in Chile, Mrs. Martinez was an active member of “Bellas Artes” Chamber Choral Group, touring important venues in South America and Europe. As the Music Director of the Chorus of the Municipal Theater of Temuco, Chile, Gabriela performed symphonic and operatic repertoire. She played different roles in operas such as Traviata, Madame Butterfly and La Boheme, as well as performing soloistic parts in important symphonic vocal works.
In 2009 she performed with the Cleveland Orchestra in operas such as Cosi fan tutte and Le Nozze di Figaro.
She worked at Beck Center for the Arts teaching voice and piano from 2012 until 2016. Gabriela is currently a member of the Voice Faculty at Cleveland State University and she is also the Music Director at the North Olmsted Methodist Church, where she conducts the choir and bell choir.
Mrs. Martinez has been an active performer, appearing in different and important local concert venues performing works such as Handel’s Messiah with the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, Faure’s Requiem, Lifesongs by David R. Gillingham with the Cleveland State University’s band and operatic arias and art song repertoire at solo recitals with piano as well as accompanied by various instrumental ensembles.
