Our new Youth Pride Choir Camp is the first of its kind in the Cleveland area. This choir is open to LGBTQIA+ students and allies looking to express themselves through song in a safe, identity-affirming environment. Daily activities will combine choir rehearsal with community building and social-emotional learning activities. Campers will conclude with a community concert at the BOP STOP, featuring songs from Dear Evan Hansen, Sara Bareillis, Cyndi Lauper, and more.

Dr. Jessica L. Gallagher-Steuver [STY-ver] (she/her/hers) recently earned her PhD in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. In addition to her work at The Music Settlement, she currently serves as the Artistic Director of Windsong, Cleveland's Feminist Chorus, Conductor of University Chorale at CWRU, and an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at CWRU and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. She is the founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Queer Choral Studies: the Official Academic Publication of GALA Choruses.
An avid performer, Dr. Gallagher-Steuver regularly sings with local and regional ensembles, including the Cleveland Orchestra’s Blossom Festival Chorus, Evensong Chamber Choir at Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights, and SINGergy, a professional treble chorus comprised of vocalists throughout Ohio.
Prior to focusing on higher education, Dr. Gallagher-Steuver taught elementary music, middle school choir, and musical theater in Cincinnati. Dr. Gallagher-Steuver is a Cleveland native, and began her journey with The Music Settlement as a preschool student many years ago!
I can’t think of anything that gives me more hope for our world than seeing a diverse group of young people come together to make music.
