New around here? Welcome!

The Music Settlement (TMS) is a century-old community music school forged out of the Settlement Movement as a way to welcome immigrants to Cleveland and unite them through the common language of music. Since our founding in 1912, we have grown from our foundation of music instruction to also offering early childhood education and music therapy services.

In 1955, we began offering arts-integrated early childhood education at our University Circle Campus. Focused on children from 3-weeks through 6 years-of-age, our Center for Early Childhood provides a warm and nurturing environment that encourages natural curiosity, collaboration, exploration and discovery.

In 2018, we opened our Ohio City campus, bridging east and west side neighborhoods to offer our programming to all - regardless of background or ability to pay. Today, our half-day Preschool, year-round Day School and full-day Kindergarten offerings provide diverse, multicultural experiences through discussion, music, stories, cooking, art, science and many other sensory experiences.

Our early childhood programs have earned the highest rating of five stars in the State of Ohio's Step Up to Quality initiative for exceeding quality benchmarks over and above Ohio's licensing standards for early childhood programs. Our dedicated staff and faculty are continually looking for innovative ways to teach and inspire our students through enriching educational experiences. As a community music and education nonprofit with a robust science program currently run at both campuses, we were driven to bring something bigger to surrounding neighborhoods that would advance STEM in youth education, promote family engagement, and most importantly, positively impact all members of our community.
