Broadway Basics Voice Camp

Broadway Basics Voice Camp is for students who want to gain experience in singing, dancing, and acting by putting their skills to work in an A Cappella group or a Musical Theater Workshop. A Cappella campers will have fun exploring popular and jazz vocal harmonies in a small, tight-knit singing group and have the opportunity to work on background vocals, blending techniques, harmonizing, and more. Musical Theater performers will work on solo pieces in a Master Class and put together an ensemble piece for the final concert. Everyone will leave camp a better singer, dance and actor! Camp Create (formerly Music Builders)

Led by TMS EC Drama Specialist Mr. C., Camp Create, is a nurturing and engaging introductory arts camp filled with fun and learning. This camp will foster creativity, confidence and caring by combining theater, dance and music (vocal/instrumental). Campers will collaborate with other cast members and instructors, using the various art forms to create an original presentation to be performed on the final day of camp.

Camp Create: After Care (3-5pm)

For parents unable to pick up their child from Camp Create at 3:00 p.m., The Music Settlement offers childcare between the hours of 3:00 - 5:00pm. Aftercare is available for the entire camp session (advance reservations required), or for $15.00 a day on an as-needed basis.rnrnPre-registration for Before & Aftercare are preferred to allow for appropriate staffing. Drop-In attendance will be based on space available. Daily Drop-In charge is paid on day of use.rnrn*Please note: this course (8844) is for the After Care option ONLY (3-5pm). To participate in this course, you must also enroll in Camp Create (9am-3pm).

Camp Create: Before Care (8-9am)

Parents may drop off their child for Camp Create before 9am with Before Care. Childcare for campers is offered between 8-9am daily for $8.00 on an as-needed basis. To participate in this program, you must also enroll in Camp Create. Pre-registration for Before & Aftercare are preferred to allow for appropriate staffing. Drop-In attendance will be based on space available. Daily Drop-In charge is paid on day of use.

Cello Boot Camp

Want to advance your cello playing quickly? There's nothing like an intensive 2-day boot camp to do so! Sessions will rotate through technical drills of all sorts: scales, arpeggios, 3rds, 6ths, and bowing exercises, interspersed with audio and videos to increase our understanding of the glorious, vast sound world of the cello. Both days will conclude with cello choir reading sessions. Cello Boot Camp, while challenging, will also offer a great opportunity to bond with fellow cello enthusiasts in a very friendly and supportive environment. Ages/skill level: 13 and up (no upper age limit! adult students are strongly encouraged). Minimum intermediate skill level ? students should be able to play scales up to 3 sharp and flat keys, two-octave major and minor scales and be acquainted with Thumb Position. About the instructor: Ida Mercer is very excited to be leading this camp. Designated by the Ohio String Teacher Association "Studio Teacher of the Year" in 2002, and a CPAC Creative Workforce Fellow in 2010, Ida is a dedicated cello teacher. Dr. Mercer has maintained an all-ages cello studio at The Music Settlement since 1998. She also serves as Director of Programs for the Cleveland Cello Society and serves on the CWRU Music Department faculty.

Chamber Music Camp

Chamber Music Camp students will be placed in small ensembles according to age and experience level. They will work with TMS faculty members to prepare chamber pieces for the camp's final concert. Inlet Dance Theatre Summer Dance Intensive Junior

This 1-week dance camp includes improvisation based movement games, modern technique, creating new choreography, and more! The camp will culminate with an informal showing for family and friends. June 18-22, 2018 at The Music Settlement at University Circle. Half-day (9am-12:30pm) tuition: $250. Full-day (9am-4pm) tuition: $400. After-care (4-6pm): $15/day.

Inlet's Summer Dance Intensive (2018)

This dance program --for ages 12 and up-- focuses on creating a supportive community of dancers, exposing students to the collaborative dance-making process and increasing technical and performance skills, specifically in Pilobolus-based Nontraditional Partnering, performance improvisation and Hawkins-based Modern. This program allows students to experience being a part of a collaborative professional contemporary dance company. Click for more info!

J@MS Jazz Camp

Polish your musical skills and discover the rich and vital tradition of jazz music in this summer offering of our popular school year program, Jazz at the Music Settlement (J@MS). During Jazz Camp, students will gain knowledge and develop musical skills, perform in ensembles, and take classes in the history of African American music and improvisation. Music Safari Camp Session I is for Ages 6 to 10. Session One of Music Safari Camp begins on Monday, June 11, and ends on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 9:00AM-12:30PM. North Coast Winds Chamber Camp

Join North Coast Winds, Cleveland's premier professional woodwind quintet, for an interactive and fun week of chamber music! Open to flute, oboe, b-flat clarinet, French horn, and bassoon students who have at least 2 years of experience planning with a band or orchestra. Students will learn and practice the basics of chamber music, rehearse and perform with other campers, sit side-by-side with professional musicians in a chamber music immersion experience, and perform in a recorded concert for family and friends at the end of the week. Other topics will include careers in music, basic ear training, music theory, sight singing, critical listening skills, and more! Faculty: The North Coast Winds Age/skill level: open to students graduating grades 7 to 12 in spring 2018; intermediate to advanced levels. Orchestra Camp

Students in the Orchestra Camp will refine their musical skills through modern music that encompasses a wide variety of styles, including Classical, Folk, Jazz, and Blues. The Orchestra Camp experience will culminate in a high-energy performance for friends and family. Piano Camp

The theme for 2018 Summer Piano Camp is "Famous Musicians and Their Teachers." Piano Camp will include private lessons, group classes, music theory, studio performance classes, individual practice time, guided practice, and much more. The camp will culminate in an exciting recital Friday evening, June 29, showcasing the students? accomplishments. Rock & Popular Music Camp

The Rock & Popular Music Camp is a modern music experience that encompasses a wide variety of styles, including Classic Rock, Pop, Funk, Reggae, Grunge, Folk, and Blues. Campers will take part in a hands-on creative rock ensemble that will help students take what they have learned and apply it in a group setting. Camp will include band rehearsal, music theory and ear training, group lessons, music history and appreciation, performance preparation, and songwriting. Suzuki Camp

Students who are currently studying violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar or piano in the Suzuki Method can join The Music Settlement Suzuki faculty and guest clinicians for a week of instruction, motivation and fun! Campers will participate in group classes and special ensembles during camp session. Each student will receive two, 30-minute private lessons scheduled after camp hours during the week. Daily recitals will showcase our Suzuki faculty and camp students each day at noon. Suzuki Camp begins on Sunday, July 29 at 3pm. Families will get their weekly schedules, meet teachers, and start the fun! The camp culminates with a Grand Finale Concert on Saturday, August 4 at 10 am. Suzuki Camp - After Care (3pm-5pm)

For parents unable to pick up their child before 5:00pm, The Music Settlement offers after care between the hours of 3:00-5:00pm, and is available for the entire camp session. The Suzuki Camp After Care option is also available for $10.00 per day on an as-needed basis. Advance reservations required.

Suzuki Camp - Extended Day (12:30pm - 3:00pm)

During the Full Day Suzuki Camp offering, campers will create cool artwork, write a compositional masterpiece, and/or explore drumming in the afternoons to further enhance the camp experience.* The Suzuki Camp Orchestra provides older Suzuki students with an opportunity to learn alternative styles of orchestral music and to reinforce musical and technical skills. Students must be in Book 2 or above to participate in the orchestra, or at the discretion of the Suzuki Camp Director. *Classes may vary slightly depending on enrollment.
