Rachel has more than 25 years of teaching in both traditional and Suzuki cello methods, and in teaching general music to young children. She is certified in Suzuki cello books 1 through 10 and completed her practicum studies in 2012.
In addition to her extensive Suzuki method training, Rachel is certified in level 1 of the Orff Schulwerk method for children and is trained in the Music Together¨ early childhood music program.
After moving to Cleveland in 1998, Rachel became a member of "The Strings" chamber group with members of the Cleveland Orchestra, and has performed as a free-lance musician. Ms. Bernstein's teachers include members of the Boston Symphony at the Tanglewood Institute and Anne Cole of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Rachel performed in a master class with the late Mistislav Rostropovich and as principal cellist under the baton of Leonard Bernstein at the Tanglewood Institute. She has also performed with composer and pianist Marc Neikrug as part of the Santa Fe Chamber Music series and Grammy award winner Marc Doss in recital at The Music Settlement.
