Sylvia Wehrs grew up in Auburn, AL studying violin through the Suzuki method, and by 2007 she was teaching her own students. Now an established musician based in Cleveland, OH with a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Ms. Wehrs is continuing her education at CIM by perusing a Master of Music in violin performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. A certified teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas, she has taught violin at Aurora School of Music, Strongsville Academy of Music, Warren Henry Music School, and the Hellenic Academy and Chisipite School in Harare, Zimbabwe. She also maintains her own private studio of students in Cleveland and Zimbabwe with ages ranging from three year-olds to adults.
Ms. Wehrs performs regularly throughout the Cleveland area with the Akron Symphony, Firelands Symphony, and by herself in a variety of settings, from concert halls to hospitals. During the summers she has participated in Bowdoin International Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, and Music Inspire Africa, a program that allowed her to share her love of performing and teaching music with the people of South Africa and Zimbabwe
