Faculty: Music

Tatyana Tolmacheva graduated from the prestigious Odessa State Conservatory in the Ukraine in 1971 with a Master's degree in piano, teaching, chamber ensembles, and accompaniment. She has spent the past 40 years teaching children and adults of all ages to play piano and appreciate classical music. During her illustrious career, Tatyana performed solo in various concert venues in Europe and the United States and has also performed with her husband, a distinguished cellist.

Tatyana has taught at The Music Settlement for the past 20 years. She believes that classical music is approachable for anyone and also that playing the piano greatly enhances quality of life and develops creativity. She welcomes beginners as young as 3 1/2 years old all the way up to age 80. Many of her students continue to enjoy playing piano well after graduation. Tatyana is very proud of her students and for good reason: many of them have won scholarships from The Music Settlement and received superior ratings in state competitions.
