Beginning Group Youth Classical Guitar - OC Fall 2018

Where: Ohio City
Also known as the nylon-string or Spanish guitar, the classical guitar has a rich history dating back hundreds of years, all the way up through modern times as made famous by masters such as Andrés Segovia. The guitar has a place in a variety of music such as Classical, Bossa Nova, Cuban, folk, rock, pop, and jazz. In this introductory course for youth ages 7 to 12, students will learn to tune the guitar, learn musical notes, learn touch and technique, and begin to learn the beautiful language of Classical guitar by playing melodies and simple songs. No experience necessary. Student should provide their own classical guitar. If that is not possible, please contact us to discuss a loaner instrument from The Music Settlement.

Group Popular Guitar for Adults - OC Fall 2018

Where: Ohio City
The guitar has been at the forefront of many music genres from the mid-20th century to present day. If you’re looking to expand your working knowledge of diverse pop music styles, this course will help you learn guitar tips, techniques, soloing, and repertoire for rock, blues, pop, jazz, Gypsy jazz, R&B and soul music, world music, and more. This class is for advanced beginners and above, or those that may have taken time off from playing for a while! Students should have a working knowledge of basic chord shapes in major and minor keys. Electric, acoustic steel string, and classical (nylon string) guitarists are welcome. Students provide their own guitar. If you are in need of an instrument, please contact us about a guitar loaner program.
