Jazz at The Music Settlement (J@MS) is a weekly half-day immersion program for students ages 12-18, concentrating on skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve musical goals. Musicians enrolled in the Package Program receive History of African-American Music, Theory and Improvisation, Small Combo, and Large Ensemble (Big Band).
In the J@MS Ensembles, musicians will explore a range of advanced and challenging material under the direction of our highly professional faculty. (Musicians will be placed in ensembles based upon their level of experience.) These ensembles are often selected to perform in adjudicated events, workshops and concerts throughout the year, gaining valuable performing experience in a high-level context.
Prerequisite: Placement audition with Mr. Ken LeeGrand (Depending on student's skill level, exceptions to the 12 year minimum age limit are possible pending audition.)
