J@MS Program & Ensemble - Fall 2020 (VIRTUAL OFFERING)

Where: Off-Campus
Study and play one of America’s most important original art forms from the comfort of your own home, in small and medium sized Zoom sessions on Saturday mornings. Students will experience a curriculum each day that includes 40-minute modules in jazz combo, jazz theory, rhythm section styles, piano class, horn section styles, and rhythmic studies. One of the goals of the semester is to perform at BOP STOP @ THE MUSIC SETTLEMENT, for a live-streamed concert that will be broadcast for friends and family to enjoy from anywhere. Special guests and masterclasses are also being planned for the fall J@MS online semester.

J@MS Program & Ensemble - Spring 2021

Where: University Circle
Full Program tuition: $470 Ensemble only tuition: $219 J@MS is a weekly half-day immersion program for students that immerses them in the energy and excitement of Jazz music. Musicians enrolled in the full program take part in History of African-American Music, Theory and Improvisation, Small Combo, and Large Ensemble (Big Band). Musicians will explore a range of inspiring and challenging material under the direction of our professional faculty. Students gain valuable performance experience throughout the year at concerts and special events. Prerequisite: Placement audition required. Junior J@MS - 2020-2021

Where: University Circle
The Junior J@MS Program offers an introduction to improvisation and combo playing for the younger beginning or intermediate instrumentalist. This program prepares students for the J@MS Program and helps students acclimate to the Saturday program environment.
