I, like a lot of you, have been wowed in the summer Olympics in Paris. Watching the U.S. Women’s gymnastics team take home the Gold and seeing their unwavering support of each other reminded me of the teamwork and collective effort it takes to support our creative sector.
Today, our partners Assembly for Action kicked off the campaign for this fall’s ballot issue, which would replace our current cigarette tax with a new tax that would inject additional resources to our treasured cultural assets – organizations that provide millions of experiences every year to our residents. Just like the Olympic athletes who rely on support from family at home and audiences in the stands, so too does our arts community. Nonprofit arts organizations in Cuyahoga County count on voters to support the small tax that reaps big benefits for the community. I encourage you to learn more about the ballot issue at www.voteforarts.org.
I hope you will join us in September at our Public Officials Recognition Breakfast. It’s our biggest event of the year and a great opportunity to network, build relationships and celebrate the power of the arts. Learn more in this issue of Cadence. I look forward to seeing you then!
