Music Therapy
Established in 1966, our pioneering Center for Music Therapy (CMT) uses guided music experiences to help individuals meet life's challenges.
BOP STOP
BOP STOP at The Music Settlement is Cleveland's premier listening room: an intimate, acoustically pristine performance venue with sweeping views of Lake Erie.
Ages: 15+
Session Length: 38 Weeks

Teens and adults with disabilities who want to join a social community can practice and learn new social skills while sharing and making music together.
This program includes warmups, singing, dancing, and musical games. The participants are taught music vocabulary, drama skills, and how to be on stage. Group members develop skills in talking with others, staying with the group, following directions, and sharing ideas. Each member will have the chance to do a solo in addition to performing with the group. Those new to The Music Settlement need to come to a group assessment / meet and greet before being accepted into the program.
Please contact our Center for Music Therapy at (216) 421-5806 ext. 104 for more information and to register. Tuition assistance and scholarships are available to qualified applicants.

Rachel Plentovich, LPMT, MT-BC is a Licensed Professional and Board-Certified Music Therapist who joined The Music Settlement in the spring of 2023. She earned her bachelor’s in music therapy from Cleveland State University and completed her internship at The Fine Arts Association of Willoughby. Rachel enjoys working in community-based music therapy, so she was excited to join the team and is passionate about the work we do here at TMS. She has previous experience working with children of all ages and needs, from early childhood through high school. She also has worked with adults in a wide range of settings, serving both groups and individuals through music therapy. Rachel’s background encompasses working with individuals with ID/DD, individuals with other disabilities, autistic individuals, older adults in memory care, and individuals with mental health needs.
Rachel’s role with The Music Settlement consists of both clinic-based work at the University Circle campus as well as community contracts around the Cleveland area, including mental health facilities and adult care programs. Rachel is passionate about treating each client as their own unique person, so she utilizes a humanistic, person-centered, and evidence-based approach to help her clients find healing and achieve their goals.
When she is not at work, Rachel loves to spend time with her husband and friends, discover new places to visit nearby and afar, go to concerts and listen to live music, and relax with nature and plants. She loves the music and arts culture here in Cleveland and is proud to be a part of The Music Settlement’s legacy of music therapy.
