Bass Student for Life

I am a freshman at Shaker Heights High School. I want to thank you for your generous support of music education at The Music Settlement. I’m honored to have been selected as the recipient of a scholarship from The Berton E. Siegel Scholarship Fund for the Upright Bass. I started my music education at The Music Settlement when I was four years old and have been playing the bass and taking lessons at The Music Settlement for eleven years.

Music has been an important part of my life ever since I started playing upright bass. I feel that playing the bass has helped me become a more expressive, creative, intelligent and well-rounded person. Practicing and performing music also has helped make me comfortable getting in front of people and performing. The Music Settlement has provided a solid foundation, which I used to audition and make the Chamber Orchestra at SHHS as a freshman. It can be challenging but my music teacher, Glenn Holmes, is always helping me to improve.

I am grateful for the financial support you have provided that has helped me on my path to becoming a better musician and person.
