by Harold Deweaver
My relationship with music began when I was in high school. My mother chose me out of my brothers and sisters to play the piano. I thought it was for girls so I arrived late to my lessons, until she used my paper route money (Cleveland Press) for lessons, I was then on time. I took off a few years, and appeared as a student of CMS where Emily Glawson was my teacher. She involved me recitals, then Ms. Elise was my second teacher. I went to a baseball game and the Star Spangled Banner was played by 12 young men, on violins. So I purchased a violin and met Kim Lauritsen. As my teacher, she introduced me to the Adult Orchestra to expand my musicianship. Kim also persuaded me to sing with TMS Settlement Singers. My involvement has me currently ushering at the Lakeshore Euclid Symphony.
Learning music has exposed me to many friends of like minded, and at various life stages. Music’s diversity brings commonality to relationships.
The great teachers, Peter at the front desk, and the historic building it’s housed, and the abundant friendships, and the many photos I have captured of everyone [has impacted my life].
