Rock & Pop Band

Session Length: 15 Weeks
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and Up

Now in Ohio City, our redesigned Rock & Pop Band gives your musicians the chance to form bands, explore specific genres, and create original music together.

Students begin by learning a cover song to build ensemble skills, then quickly transition into collaborative songwriting, coming to each session with their own ideas—whether riffs, lyrics, or melodies—to shape into fully developed songs. Depending on enrollment, bands may focus on genres such as pop or alternative / Indie rock, allowing students to dive deeper into the styles that inspire them. Throughout the program, participants rehearse, write, and refine their music while preparing for performance opportunities both at The Music Settlement and potentially at off-site events.

If this is your first enrollment of the school year in the Center for Music (September – June), a non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment ($35 for a single registrant, with a cap of $50 per family).

Christian Evans is an educator with 14 years of experience working with children from toddlers to high schoolers. Along with his dedication to caring for and uplifting children, Christian is also a passionate musician. These two interests have led him down a fulfilling and joyful path of sharing the power of music with children through song writing. His program, The Lyric Lab, has allowed young people to discover a new form of self expression, a tool to process emotions, and the confidence to share their art with an audience. The Lyric Lab will be partnering with The Music Settlement for both individual and group song writing classes, rock and pop ensembles, as well as guitar and bass lessons.
