The Settlement Singers is an opportunity for adults to learn new music, make new friends, and develop their performance skills.
The group aims to be fun, interactive, and social as they explore songs from many genres. Choir members will explore singing in different languages and styles as well as various choral techniques. The camp will culminate in a final public performance. All skill levels are welcome.
This is a six-day session, held on the following days:

The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship is not an eligible fund for any camp at The Music Settlement. (This fund may be used for music therapy services.)

Mezzo-soprano Kim Lauritsen frequently appears with The Cleveland Orchestra, most recently as soloist in The Lord of the Rings Symphony at the Blossom Music Center under the direction of the composer Howard Shore, and at Severence Hall in Debussys Le Martyre de Saint Sebastien under the baton of Matthias Pintscher. She has performed lead roles with Opera per tutti, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Opera Cleveland on Tour, CIM Opera Theater, the Janiec Opera Company, and UNL's Opera Theater. A champion of new music, Ms. Lauritsen recently debuted roles in Jim Harris and Mark Hayes' new musical "Civil War Voices", Monica Houghton's opera "The Big Bonanza", and Randall Eng's opera "Florida".
Ms. Lauritsen performs with the Opera Cleveland Chorus, is Music Director of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and teaches voice, violin, and theory at The Music Settlement. She is the recipient of the Boris Goldovsky Prize in Opera, the Vassos Prize in Art Song, a Special Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Guild, and is a student of George Vassos.
