His recorded performances range from the big bands of Phil Wilson and Frank Mantooth to the Australian quartet Jazz Co/op to saxophone concertos by David Baker, Salvatore Martirano and Edward Miller. He has also presented numerous concerts and workshops throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Australia.
Joe Tomino attended Cleveland State University, studying classical percussion with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. He also studied composition and jazz performance at the New England Conservatory. Since relocating to New York in 2000, Joe has had the opportunity to play, tour, and record with The Fugees, Mike Patton, Wyclef Jean, Matisyahu, Leela James, Rahzel, Del Amitri, Lauren Hill, Simply Red, Ying Yang Twins, Maxi Priest, Wayne Krantz, Meshell Ndegeocello, and others. He has written, produced and played for producers/songwriters David Khane (Sublime, Regina Spektor), Gordon Williams (Lauren Hill, Santana), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Warren Riker (Michael Jackson, Fugees), Joel Hamilton (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Lou Reed), Jamie Segal (Taking Back Sunday, Lauren Hill), Jim Scott (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty), Rob Fusari (Destiny's Child, Will Smith), and more. Currently, Tomino spends several months each year touring with his dub-metal project, Dub Trio. When Joe is not playing drums he enjoys cooking plant based foods and doing yoga.
