NEOSonicFest: Ars Futura @ BOP STOP

Ars Futura Ensemble is a newly formed, Cleveland-based collective of classically trained musicians, dedicated to commissioning and performing new music. It's mission is to nurture the evolution of modern music through collaboration with living composers. The performers strongly believe in early education and the importance of letting young students learn about the field of contemporary music and develop their creative side from an early age. The first season began with a successful first public performance at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Ars Futura commissioned two works by Joseph Hallman during its first season, a Philadelphian composer currently a faculty member at Drexel University and University of Pennsylvania. The season also included a tour to Philadelphia and Baltimore where musicians performed and worked with students of an El Sistema inspired program called ORCHkids, a music program under the direction of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Ars Futura has been the ensemble-in-residence for the Young Composer’s Program at the Cleveland Institute of Music during summers in 2013 and 2014. Ars Futura has performed concerts in Kutztown University, Wooster Chamber Music Series and the Cleveland Public Library. Ars Futura has also worked with an inspiring organization based in Cleveland - the Joyful Noise Neighborhood Music School, where children from economically disadvantage backgrounds receive free music lessons. Ars Futura is deeply involved with outreach programs for young students. Musicians of Ars Futura have closely worked with well-known composers Keith Fitch, Margaret Brouwer, Joan Tower, Chen Yi, Victoria Bond, Paul Dresher, Claude Baker, Melinda Wagner and David Rakowski.

Ars Futura features: Shuai Wang- piano; Madeline Lucas Tolliver-flue; Drew Sullivan- clarinet; Tara Lynn Ramsey- violin; Daniel Pereira- cello; Luke Rinderknecht-percussion
