Shannon Eller Sextet at BOP STOP

http://www.shannonellermusic.com/

Shannon Eller is one of Northeast Ohio’s accomplished and diverse jazz/pop vocalists known for her “full, easy vocal style”. Shannon’s wide vocal range and vast ability to sing various styles and genres allows her to create fresh musical arrangements and original tunes. Her charming and passionate delivery enables Shannon to develop a strong and intimate connection with her audiences.

Shannon also sings and composes music for local jazz bands including the Dave Banks Big Band. She was a guest performer at the 2012 Lakeland Jazz Festival, and was guest soloist with the Baldwin-Wallace jazz ensemble. Shannon performs with groups at Nighttown, Brothers Lounge, the Cleveland Bop Stop, Musica, and Vosh.

Shannon’s repertoire is not at all limited to jazz and pop. She is also highly skilled in opera and musical theater. She has played leading roles in many musical theater and operatic productions, including A Little Night Music, The Will Rogers Follies, Pirates of Penzance, Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods, La Boheme, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, The Music Man, Die Fledermaus, and Legally Blonde. Her most recent role was the Beggar Woman in the 2014 production of Sweeney Todd at the Aurora Theater. Shannon also has sung the soprano solos in several choral works such as the Faure Requiem, the Mozart Requiem, and the Beethoven Mass in C. Shannon is a graduate of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.

The central theme of this show, This Crazy Little Thing Called Love, will be love songs that touch every aspect and emotion of love, including crushes, heartbreaks, pure romance, frustration, and sensuality. We examine each song in depth in order to discover several levels of meaning, and create unique musical arrangements to highlight our discoveries. We strive to make connections between eras and genres and emotions that excite our audience.

Shannon's sextet features:

Shannon Eller: Vocals; Sam Blakeslee: Trombone; Chris Coles: Saxophone; Aidan Plank: bass; Dustin May: Drums; Clay Colley: Piano
