TWIN TALK is drummer Andrew Green, saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi, and bassist/vocalist Katie Ernst.
At its heart, TWIN TALK’s music is a celebration of communal risk-taking and collaborative music-making, inviting listeners along for the ride. Described by All About Jazz as “bold in its youthful energy, sophisticated in its thematic unity...fresh, enjoyable, and exciting,” they draw from a diverse pool of influences to create a personal, unified sound. TWIN TALK's uninhibited improvisations are framed by intricately carved compositions, combining textures of modern classical minimalism with earthy folk melodies and dynamic interplay. Their debut album Sightline (under Laurenzi/Ernst/Green) is currently available on BandCamp, and their self-titled sophomore album will be released in the fall of 2015.
TWIN TALK is a Chicago-based band that tours frequently throughout the US. They have been featured at the 2014 Chicago Jazz Festival and the 2014 Hyde Park Jazz Festival. In Chicago, TWIN TALK has presented music for the ears&eyes series, Gilt Bar’s Trio in Curio, the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s NextGenJazz series, and the Whistler’s RelaxAttack jazz series.
