Jeremy Bleich incorporates a wide palette of culture, ancient and modern instruments, traditions and forms and electronic manipulation into the process of creating music. Jeremy plays bass, oud, piano, guitar and various percussion and drums. He resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he is involved with presenting new music through his House Concert chamber music series,and his Grasshopper Music record label, as well as developing children's operettas through a Kennedy Center Arts Integration program for the Santa Fe Opera. He holds a degree in music composition from Cleveland State University. His work with the Cleveland/NYC based group birth gave him the opportunity to tour in Europe and throughout the states, and his oud playing has led him to play in Tusla and Istanbul, Turkey as well as Mexico City, Mexico.
Jeremy has a diverse background as an educator, working as a composer in residence at The Santa Fe Opera, developing operettas for children (2006-present). He is a Music Instructor at The Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and has taught arts and culture through various programs in Santa Fe, NM including Artsmart and The Santa Fe Arts Commission. Jeremy is currently the Music Director for Lifesongs, a program of The Academy for the Love of Learning.
Recent compositions include:
"Even After All This Time" - a piece for three woman's voices (text by persian poet Hafiz - (2010), a String
Quintet (2011), "Suite for Brass Quintet" - (2012), "Quartet for
Button Reeds and Strings" - (2012), and a rock opera "Love and
Emma Goldman", (premiered in May 2012 in Santa Fe), and made possible by a generous grant from The California
Foundation for Peace and Justice. Circus Luminous (annual live circus at the Lensic Theatre in Santa Fe, NM - 2006-2009, 2010-2012, 2014).
