October 1 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm
We welcome bassist Aidan Plank for an evening of music featuring new works distantly related to jazz and classical music, and deeply rooted in exploration. Aidan's quartet features Carmen Castaldi on drums, Brad Wagner on Saxophone, and Joshua Rosner on Guitar.
A native of Oberlin, Ohio, bassist Aidan Plank enjoys performing a diverse range of music throughout Northern Ohio. He has studied with bassist-composer David Morgan as well as with Kevin Switalski of the Cleveland Orchestra, and is a graduate of Cleveland State University. His performances range from collaborations with Dan Wall, Joe Lovano, Judi Silvano, Joe Maneri, Janis Siegel, and Frankie Avalon to the modern period-instrument premiere of Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer’s Le Pouvoir de l’Amour (1743) at Oberlin College and the world premiere of Randall Woolf and Robin Stranahan’s ‘pop-up’ opera, Frozen Community, produced by Real Time Opera in 2013. In addition to his work with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Aidan can currently be heard exploring duo improvisation with guitarist Daniel Lippel of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE).
