Sopko/Atwal Duo
Originally formed in 2010 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hamir Atwal (drums) and Mike Sopko (guitar), bring many years of talent and energy to their original music. Touring and recording extensively, under bands Glimpse Trio and Cascading Liquid Rainbows, Hamir and Mike have created numerous albums together, innovating a genre of music blending elements of jazz, rock and improvisation. Their albums have featured performances by Dosh, Bill Laswell, Chris Lopes and more, and have been featured in Downbeat Magazine, , "an amazing document of eclectic improvisation..." by editor, Frank Alkyer.
Hamir Atwal, SF Bay Area drummer, is a Berklee College of Music graduate and an active endorser of DREAM Cymbals. He has performed with such acts as Glimpse Trio, Joe Lovano, Greg Osby tUneyArDs, Michael Coleman, and the Ben Goldberg School.
Mike Sopko, a Cleveland native, has performed and recorded with musicians Bill Laswell, Mike Watt, Dosh, Thomas Pridgen, Simon Lott and more. He is a founding member of the bands Sopko/Laswell/Pridgen, Glimpse Trio, Big Band & Cascading Liquid Rainbows. When he's not playing guitar Mike enjoys watching netflix, doing pull-ups and eating popcorn. '
