The Cleveland Cello Society presents: ‘Dialectic’
Chris Irvine-cello
Zack Clarke-piano
Let’s give outstanding cellist Chris Irvine (winner of all CCS competition divisions over the years- elementary, junior, senior, and collegiate) and his improvisation collaborator, Zack Clarke, a warm Cleveland welcome! Chris and Zack started improvising during their undergraduate days at the New England Conservatory and continued in those efforts during graduate school at the Manhattan School of Music. Their program will feature J.S. Bach’s Suite No. 4 in Eb Major for solo cello juxtaposed with free-improvised "reactions". Following each movement of Bach, there will be a spontaneous reaction featuring both cello and piano. The impetus behind this project is the performers' belief that an intermingling of both composed and improvised music captures more fully the human experience. Chris and Zack are eager to hear your opinions. Please plan to stay for a post-performance discussion with them.
