December 16 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm
The Prime Time Big Band has been playing in the Cleveland area since 1976. In the band's early days it was known as the Richmond Heights Community Big Band, and was partially supported by the City of Richmond Heights. Several members of today's Prime Time have been playing with us since the Richmond Heights Community Big Band. Soon enough, the band began to play more on its own, and the sponsorship of the city faded into history. Prime Time continues to play for community events and also plays frequently for weddings, corporate parties, country club events, or anywhere that calls for dinner and dancing and an exciting big band.
The Prime Time Big Band comprises 18 musicians in the instrumentation of the classic big bands. The instrumentation includes five saxophones, who sometimes double on clarinet or flute, four trombones, five trumpets doubling on cornet and flugelhorn, piano, guitar, bass, and drums. The band also features male and female vocalists.
Prime Time's big band sound can be heard throughout the Cleveland area. The band plays frequent summer outdoor and indoor concerts, ballroom dancing events, weddings, dinner parties, and corporate events. The band's repertoire of hundreds of tunes includes those made famous by Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, and many others. Music from Motown, the Beatles, and Elvis can also be heard at a Prime Time event. Sponsors of events are always welcome to select their own favorites from the Prime Time book.Back to Calendar
