Radarhill is a post-jazz sextet out of Columbus, OH. The group is actively composing and performing new music with a wide variety of influences. The sextet aims to be a true synthesis of musical styles with a heavy emphasis on jazz and improvisation. The sources of inspiration for their music is non-genre-specific; music for everybody.
The six members of Radarhill all met while earning varying levels of music degrees at Ohio University in Athens, OH. While cutting their teeth in music school they studied and performed jazz, Medieval plainchant, modernist avant garde, Baroque styles, and free improvisation. All of these styles are present in their music.
The group was first formed as a trio in the summer of 2014 but quickly evolved into a sextet. Radarhill maintains an active performance and rehearsal schedule throughout the year. They are an artist-in-residence at Wild Goose Creative, and are featured at many venues throughout Columbus, and the mid-west. The sextet recorded their first album “The Yeilds” in the summer of 2014 and are currently working towards their next recording project scheduled for this December.
Radarhill is: Caleb Miller, keyboards; Troy Kunkler, percussion; Eli Chambers, bass; Nick Simko, trumpet; Nick Weckman, trombone; Jordan Reed, saxophones
