Radarhill is a post-jazz quintet based out of Columbus, OH. The group is actively composing and performing new music with a wide variety of influences. The quintet aims to be a true synthesis of musical styles with a heavy emphasis on jazz and improvisation. The sources of inspiration for their music is intentionally wide-ranging; music for everybody.
The five members of Radarhill all met while earning varying levels of music degrees at Ohio University in Athens, OH. While cutting their teeth in music school they studied and performed jazz, modernist avant garde, contemporary classical, symphonic music, free improvisation and other styles. All of these sounds are present in their music.
The group was first formed as a trio in the summer of 2014 but quickly evolved into a quintet. Radarhill maintains an active performance and rehearsal schedule throughout the year. They are an artist-in-residence at Wild Goose Creative, have recently composed and performing a new work for Radarhill and The Ohio University Wind Symphony (“Lucidrome”) and are featured at many venues throughout Columbus, and the mid-west. The quintet recorded their first album “The Yeilds” in the summer of 2014 and are currently working towards the release of their new double album “Something’s/ Any Given Day” for release the in the summer of 2016.
