We invite you to an evening of Bossa Nova with a touch of jazz from the legendary Grammy award winner Kenny Davis on trumpet and Moises Borges on vocals and guitar.
Moises Borges is a self taught acoustic-electric guitarist and singer born in Brazil. Influences are from his home musical state Bahia and its great blend. He grew experimenting with rhythms such as bolero, baiao, xote, afoxe, frevo, forro, and especially Samba and Bossa Nova which are basic to his performances. Borges is dedicated to broadening the audience for Brazilian Music by performing solo and with his band around Cleveland area for the last 15 years and holds three nominations for the Brazilian International Press Awards USA as best Brazilian Instrumentalist living in the US.
Kenny Davis, teacher of jazz ensembles and trumpet, has performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, and headliners from the Motown Sound, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight, among many others. Davis taught jazz trumpet and small ensembles at Oberlin College for 27 years and Jazz History at Cleveland State University for 13 years and is one of the great jazz legends from Cleveland. Although performing is his passion, Davis equally appreciates giving back to the youth of America by sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience.
