Tony Cuda is a bassist and composer of progressive and jazz influenced music inspired by Weather Report, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Yes, King Crimson and so many other wonderful musicians. Tony lives in Cleveland Hts, Ohio.
His group, The Jazz Cats, was formed in 2010 as a recording project. The idea was to create an outlet for jazzier, bluesier compositions. They put out their first CD in 2014 called “Herding Jazz Cats” and played their first gigs that same year. The Jazz Cats are: Tony Cuda (bassist & composer), Dan Maier (keys & arranger), Donny Patterson (drums), Chris Cuda (guitar).
For tonight's gig at BOP STOP, Tony Cuda will be debuting his latest CD, Broken Streams of Consciousness. The CD features the legendary Jamey Haddad (currently on tour with Paul Simon) on percussion and local jazz fav, Dave Sterner on saxophone.
"This CD took a long time to put together, but it was worth it," said Cuda. This is Cuda's second CD with the Jazz Cats. His first CD, "Hearding Jazz Cats," was well-received by the press and the fans alike. "Original music is everything to me. 'Broken Streams' is the culmination of a tremendously talented group of jazz musicians and my commitment to songwriting. The brilliant performances on 'Broken Streams' are what makes the music come to life. There is no music without them."
