Guys with Guitars is comprised of 3 regionally accomplished solo musicians, Patrick Woods, Darren Frate, and Doug Wood. Their show features a mix of each musician performing cleverly crafted solo pieces, along with collaborations of original and recognizable cover tunes.

Premier acoustic guitarist Doug Wood brings contemplative, melody-driven music that can shift from a sweet solo fingerstyle guitar piece to a composition looping energetic world rhythms. Doug enjoys connecting with audience, whether it’s through his music or storytelling. He has been featured on numerous radio and TV programs including “Echoes,” “River City Folk,” and “Late Night with David Letterman.”

Being more influenced by progressive rock than acoustic music, Patrick Woods has carved out his unique brand of up-tempo driving acoustic instrumentals that are complex enough to be appreciated by advanced musicians, but melodic enough to be enjoyed by the average music lover.

Rounding out the trio is innovative bass guitarist Darren Frate. Darren’s work is reminiscent of bass masters like Jaco Patorius and Michael Manring. He is able to create fully orchestrated melodic tunes using foot pedals and looping. These three talented musicians with diverse styles have come together in this special collaboration to bring guitar music to the Massillon audience.
