This Fall, "Eric Seddon's Hot Club Live Performance and History Series" occurs every other Wednesday in September through November. Each event focuses on a different innovator in jazz clarinet. Feel free to purchase tickets to each individual concert or buy a ticket to the entire series for some great savings!
Our second installment dives into the life of Jimmie Noone! Jimmie Noone was an important student of Bechet, Lorenzo Tio, and Franz Schoepp, bridging the gap between the Creole New Orleans world and the consummate Chicago band with his Apex Club Orchestra. His staccato technique and lyricism, his virtuosic power on the clarinet, were unrivaled. Beyond that, his recordings set the standard repertoire for what we consider the jazz clarinet, followed by Benny Goodman, Pete Fountain, et al., right up to the present day. Join us for an evening of Apex Club standards: where the golden era of the Jazz Clarinet all started.
