Eric Gould/Yoron Israel/Leon Lee Dorsey @ BOP STOP

Join us for an incredible evening of jazz as we present an amazing trio featuring:

  • Eric Gould, Piano
  • Leon Lee Dorsey, Bass
  • Yoron Israel, Drums

The band will be performing original music as well as arrangements of some jazz classics.

While his first three CD’s met with success, and have enabled him to make a mark on the national jazz scene, these are but some of the pieces of a multifaceted career for pianist, composer, and arranger Eric Gould. He has performed and recorded in collaboration with world-renowned instrumentalists such as Jimmy Heath, Ron Carter, James Newton, Bobby Watson, Antonio Hart, Winard Harper, Cindy Blackman, Terri Lynne Carrington, Vanessa Rubin, Cecil Bridgewater, Talib Kibwe (T.K. Blue), Don Braden, Robin Eubanks, Billy Pierce, and Leon Lee Dorsey in addition to leading his own trio in performances from the Midwest to the East Coast. His debut CD, “On the Real” rose to number 11 on the national jazz radio charts in the first quarter of 1999. His second CD, “Miles Away… Wayne in Heavy” rose to number 10 on the national charts and to number 45 (out of over 2500 releases) for the year 2000 His third CD, “Who Sez?” sold well from coast to coast, and appeared on radio playlists nationally.

Yoron Israel, a native Chicagoan, is one of the most gifted and sought after musicians in the music industry today. Yoron's exciting and tasteful drumming, along with his compositional talents are spotlighted throughout his recordings; “VISIONS” - The Music of Stevie Wonder (Ronja Music), “Basic Traneing” (Ronja Music), “Chicago” (Double Time), “Live at the Blue Note” (Half Note) and "A Gift for You" (Ronja Music). All of these fine works have received enthusiastic praise from journalists, musical peers and fans alike. They represent the extensive depth of Yoron Israel’s musicianship as he continues to evolve as a leader. He brings his unique influences and experiences in Jazz, World Styles, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Funk, R & B and Orchestral idioms full circle with his compositions, arrangements, repertoire and ensemble concept: “Music to be enjoyed by all”. As Jack DeJohnette quotes, “A Gift for You" is a sparkling musical offering from a drummer who has good taste. He has a sense of direction and a feeling of joy in his drumming, compositions and arrangements. Yoron Israel is an important voice you should listen to."

Leon Lee Dorsey’s fluid and ubiquitous bass has energized Jazz Masters Lionel Hampton, and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, as well as Grammy winning Jazz Vocalist Cassandra Wilson. In addition, he has performed under the baton of conducting legends Lukas Foss and Robert Fountain. In September 1999 he made his solo recital debut at Lincoln Center. A composer and arranger, he has performed with jazz luminaries that include: Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, John Lewis, Kenny Clarke, Jon Hendricks, Gloria Lynn, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Dorothy Donegan, Stanley Turrentine, George Benson, Ellis Marsalis, Neena Freelon and Terumasa Hino. He has also performed in big bands with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Benny Carter, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and Charlie Persip's Superband. Other career highlights include working with Frank Sinatra at Carnegie Hall, guest appearances at the White House under Presidents Reagan and Clinton and performing with Joe Williams and the operatic diva Marilyn Home.
