The New World Quartet (Guerrieri, Miller, Ransom, Zucker) @ BOP STOP

The New World Quartet is a stellar band featuring Bill Ransom on drums, Joe Miller on trumpet, Alfredo Guerrieri on bass, and Jack Zucker on guitar.

The band will be performing the music of Weather Report, Pat Methany, and electric Miles Davis. A few original compositions will also be showcased.

Bill Ransom has toured and recorded with leading artists including Patrice Rushen, Beth Hart, Marion Meadows, Cecil Bridgewater, Diane Reeves, Mary Wilson, and James Newton. He spent much of the 90’s on the road with contemporary saxophonist Najee and R&B crooner Gerald LeVert.

Joe Miller is one of the most sought-after trumpet players in the area. Trained in classical music as well as Jazz, he has toured and performed extensively with international, regional and local artists. Mr. Miller was a member of the Grammy-nominated Acid/Groove/Jazz group, Liquid Soul, playing with internationally known DJs, including DJ Logic. His recording credits are many and varied, including Kenny Anderson and the late Gerald Levert. Joe toured with Bobby Caldwell and has played lead and solo trumpet for Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Frankie Valli, The Funk Brothers and many others.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in the suburb of Willoughby, Alfredo was convinced to pick up the electric bass at his best friend’s insistence. Alfredo earned a Bachelor Degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and At the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, in Bass Performance. He received his Master of Music in Jazz Performance/Acoustic Bass from Cleveland State University. His teachers have included: Oscar Stagnaro, Anthony Vitti, Bruce Gertz, Glenn Holmes, Christopher Maloney, Brian Allen, Alexis Sklarevski, Mike Mennell, Oneida James, and Putter Smith.

Jack Zucker has an impressive resume having played, performed and studied jazz guitar for over 30 years. He obtained a Studio Music/Guitar Major at the University of Miami and has taught at Universities and privately for over 20 years and lectured on improvisation at jazz festivals. He’s been involved in numerous live broadcasts for the Today Show, numerous other television and radio broadcasts and performed with Steve Abshire, Eddie Baccus, Greg Bandy, Keter Betts, Paul Bollenback, Dr. Glenn Cashman, Marc Copeland, Danny Gatton, Ellory Eskelin, Shannon Ford, Kathy Lee Gifford, Drew Gress, Jamey Haddad, Paul Horn, Bruce Hornsby, Randy Johnston, Greg Karukas, T. Lavitz, Mike Lee, Hank Levy, Joe Lovano, Rich Madison, Terry Plumeri, John Previti, Dianne Reeves, Howard Roberts, Jim Roberts, Dan Wall, Rick Whitehead, and many others.
