3D is the powerhouse, super-swingin’ trio that sparked the fire that ignited the award-winning show Maurice Hines is Tappin’ Thru Life, described by the New York Times “blistering hot.”
The newest addition to the DIVA family of bands, 3D plays original, traditional, and contemporary standards from all genres of music with their own unique style, innovative arrangements, and unified musical joy.
3D combines exuberance, creativity and happiness to create a seriously swinging, highly energized and fun-filled musical experience for everyone.
“Sherrie Maricle’s Diva Jazz Orchestra is a sensational ensemble that floors the patrons from the very opening and, after this past Saturday night’s performance, had a large percentage of the audience remaining until the end of the show’s exit music, most of them screaming for an encore at the finish. There were great moments for Jackie Warren (piano) and Amy Shook (bass), and when Maricle takes over for an extended solo, she wildly shakes up the place.” — Broadway World
“In some ways, the show belonged to the band, whose style was both agile and driving, led by the fabulous drummer Dr. Sherrie Maricle. The solos were outstanding, not only Maricle on her Buddy Rich stand-out solo on ‘Caravan,’ but also notably Amy Shook on acoustic bass.” — DC Theater Scene
“…the drummer (and bandleader) Sherrie Maricle, whose extended solo drives the audience into a frenzy; and bassist Amy Shook, who partners with Hines on a version of ‘Honeysuckle Rose’ (offered as tribute to Lena Horne) that proves to be the show’s slyest, most sophisticated treat.” — Light and Sound America
“The musician who most impressed me was Amy Shook who completely killed it on acoustic bass… Various members had great solos throughout the whole night, but Amy Shook’s bass and Dr. Sherri Maricle really steal the songs that they are prominent in. Dr. Maricle is especially impressive in her wonderful drum solo during Duke Ellington’s ‘Caravan’.” — The He Said She Said Experience
“Drummer and Musical Director Dr. Sherrie Maricle, Acoustic Bass Amy Shook (who did an outstanding job with Maurice on ‘Honeysuckle Rose’) and Piano Jackie Warren really rock the joint.” — Cleveland ExaminerBack to Calendar
