We welcome you to join us as we record live for Jazz Night In America -- the nationally syndicated radio program produced by WBGO, Jazz at Lincoln Center and NPR Music!

Hailed by The New York Times as "one of the greatest musicians in jazz history," GRAMMY(r) Award winning saxophone titan Joe Lovano has distinguished himself for some decades as a prescient and path finding force in the arena of creative music. One of Cleveland's favorite sons, Lovano returns home to celebrate the city's long legacy in jazz in a program entitled "Reflections & Projections." Although the live recording for NPR will take place over two nights, each evening will feature a different lineup of musicians. Tonight (12/28) Joe's band features:

  • Joe Lovano, sax
  • Anthony Fuoco, piano
  • Aidan Plank, bass
  • Carmen Castaldi, drums
  • Judi Silvano, voice
  • Jamey Haddad, drums & percussion
  • Anthony Lovano, drums

With a GRAMMY(r) win for his 52nd Street Themes and 14 other nominations, Lovano has won DownBeat Magazine's Critics and Readers Polls countless times as Tenor Saxophonist, Musician of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year and Triple Crowns from DownBeat. He has also received numerous awards from JazzTimes and the Jazz Journalists Association for Tenor Saxophone, Album of the Year and Musician of the Year. Lovano was awarded an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music and since 2001 has held the Gary Burton Chair in Jazz Performanc and is a founding faculty member of Berklee's Global Jazz Institute.
