About Yelena Eckemoff
Yelena Eckemoff is a renowned Russia-born pianist, composer, poet and visual artist who blends classical and jazz elements in evocative, unique works that strike a delicate balance between through-composed structures and open-ended exploration and improvisation. Eckemoff is a prolific, self-produced recording artist whose albums rank worldwide among the best releases every year. She surrounds herself with the greatest jazz players, adding to that illustrious list with each recording. Every release bears her signature and each has its own charm and expression. A virtuoso pianist, she has given numerous solo recitals and has led all-star bands at prestigious venues New York venues such as Birdland, the Jazz Standard, and Saint Peter’s Church—along with Ronnie Scott’s in London.
Eckemoff plans a solo tour this winter to showcase “Colors,” an album also featuring the remarkable percussionist Manu Katche. The release date is Feb. 22, 2019. Her dates offer an opportunity to hear her as she explores every melodic nuance of her strikingly original and organic repertoire.
