Aksrta Trio @ BOP STOP

The Aksrta Trio is a group comprised of Cleveland natives Andrew Karkosiak, Taylor Arbogast, and Sam Rosselot. Formed over a shared love for instrumental music, the trio creates a unique and conversational way of playing famous jazz standards, well-known minimalist works, and “ECM” style originals composed by each of the group’s members.

Andrew Karkosiak is an up and coming guitarist from Cleveland, Ohio finding his place within the local jazz, free-jazz, and experimental music scenes in the area. Influenced by Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Lee Konitz, Jakob Bro, and Thelonious Monk, Andrew always keeps the melody as the main focus for his improvisations and compositions. Andrew is a current member of the local Tri-C Jazz Workshop run by Cleveland legend Ernie Krivda, and has studied privately with Dan Wilson, Dan Bruce, and Brian Kozak.

Percussionist and Drummer, Samantha Rosselot lives in Brecksville, Ohio, currently a senior at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. A classically trained musician, Samantha has been a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, Contemporary Youth Orchestra and Origins Percussion Ensemble. She currently studies with Anthony Taddeo and Ben Kipp, and is planning on attending Eastman School of Music on scholarship this fall.

Taylor Arbogast began playing music around age 14 teaching himself guitar and bass guitar. His interest in bass brought him to discover jazz music and eventually develop a strong interest towards the upright bass. His passion for the music and the instrument has brought him to go out and experience the local jazz scene, attend jam sessions and meet fellow musicians. He is currently working with his trio and a quartet.
