The Keigo Hirakawa Trio returns to BOP STOP to present an evening of jazz standards and original music. Featuring:

Keigo Hirakawa - piano
Eddie Brookshire - bass
Reggie Jackson - drums

Keigo Hirakawa (piano) can be heard throughout the US and internationally. He has appeared on stage alongside Donald Byrd, Joe Lovano, JD Allen, Duane Eubanks, Noah Preminger, Carla Cook, Bobby Lavell, Bob Moses, Allen Vizzutti, and Richie Barshay. Trained in New York City and at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, he was a student of many world renowned jazz artists, including Danilo Perez, Stephen Scott, Harold Danko, Alan Pasqua, Ran Blake, Cecil McBee, Ralph Peterson, Jerry Bergonzi, Donald Byrd, John McNeil, George Garzone, Bob Moses, Walt Weiskopf, Oscar Stagnaro, Michael Cochrane, and Gary Dial. 2010 marked the released of “Hessler-Cabrillo Run Down,” Hirakawa’s first album recorded as a co-leader with saxophonist Joshua Smith. Hirakawa released a critically acclaimed trio album “And Then There Were Three” in 2015. Hirakawa was the acting director of the Cornell University Jazz Ensembles in 2000-2001, and currently on faculty at the University of Dayton.

Eddie Brookshire (bass) is a veteran bassist who has recorded and/or performed with many world renowned jazz artists including James Newton, Elvin Jones, Sandra Reeves, Woody Shaw, Gerri Allen, Roy Ayers, David “Fathead” Newman, Rusty Bryant, Johnny Lytle, Jimmy Scott, Bob Curnow, Maria Schneider, Claude Williams, Snookie Young, and Von Freeman. Brookshire earned a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, and is on faculty at Sinclair Community College.

Reggie Jackson (drums) is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies. In college, the drummer began working with recording artist Kim Pensyl. Shortly after graduation, Reggie began his 11 year tenure with two time Grammy winner and jazz legend Diane Schuur, as well as, a short stint with Aftermath recording artist Truth Hurts. He’s also toured with Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and 6 time Grammy winner Dr John. In addition to these artists, Reggie has also preformed with Frank Foster, Benny Golson, Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Daniels, Anthony Hamilton, Terence Blanchard, Kirk Whalum, Nicholas Payton, Wycliffe Gordon, Wendell Brunious, Rodney Whitaker, Marcus Belgrave, Lew Tabackin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chuck Loeb, Nelson Rangel and Antonio Hart. The versatile drummer has performed on the “The Tonight Show”, played in over 25 countries, and can be heard on recordings ranging from jazz to hip-hop, gospel, classical, and R&B.
