It is this spirit of striving that forms the Mirth Stellar Regions Trio. A culmination piecing together ideas and explorations from years of practice. Ideas of freedom, ideas of control, ideas of influence, ideas of inspiration. Stellar Regions represents a springboard built on the history of jazz improvisation presented with the ideas of today. They dare to push the guitar trio into new territory propped on the inspiration of the great innovators.

The Stellar Region’s trio is the brainchild of Tim Mirth. He dreamed of a group that brought the soul of Coltrane and Hendrix into the modern age. It starts by presenting a boundless performance with no rules and glues it together with the true soul of music, rhythm and groove. MSRT is influenced by artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Chris Potter, Mark Giuliana, Wayne Krantz, James Brown, and Shawn Lane. It touches on their melody, inventiveness, groove, maturity, and fearlessness. Whether it’s Tony’s addictive grooves, Seth’s multi-versed bass lines, or the inventive fire of Tim’s guitar playing the Stellar Region’s trio will energize your spirit.

Guitarist/Composer Tim Mirth (www.timmirth.com) started his musical explorations 28 years ago upon finding his dad’s guitar in the attic. He was immediately addicted and has never let go. Tim has performed in groups ranging from jazz, classical, metal, rap, and funk. Tim, the forever student, has studied music in New York City, Mount Union, and at the University of Akron (jazz studies). His groups have toured the eastern US and Europe. He has performed on TV and Radio. Tim has released over 7 albums and recently recorded a tribute to Wayne Shorter with many of the area’s best jazz musicians that will be available later this year, as well as new releases from Stellar Regions, Red Side Visible, and Night Terrors in 2019.

Seth Boyle is a bassist and multi-instrumentalist from Cleveland, Ohio. He studied Upright Bass Performance at Cleveland State University with a focus on jazz studies. Seth regularly plays guitar and bass with soul singer Alyssa Boyd and performs regularly with other jazz musicians in the Northeast Ohio area. In 2017 he began to tour the country with Cleveland based band Vibe & Direct. This brought forth many opportunities to share the stage with national touring acts and a chance to branch out from straight-ahead jazz into the world of funk, electronic music, and rock.

Tony Kazel is an active Cleveland based drummer/percussionist/educator. While earning a music degree from Cleveland State University, Tony embarked on many opportunities which helped shape the player he is today. In the past 12 years, Tony has performed in a multitude of different styles/genres playing with many different artists from around the world. Tony has played in local clubs, large showcases, festivals, US tours, and even international cruises. He is always striving for the “improvement of the self”. Tony feeds his hunger by putting himself in relevant types of musical outfits that always offer him a challenge. Tony has built a student collective spanning from pre-teenage to professional adults who all contribute to their school's music program or ever-expanding local music scene. You can see Tony regularly perform around the country with the band Oregon Space Trail of Doom and jazz groups throughout NE Ohio.
