Flute Ensemble Rhythm Party with Special Guest George Pope
Open to intermediate to advanced flutists ages 15 and up
November 20 from 7:15pm - 8:45pm
Mr. Pope will demonstrate a method that injects a healthy dose of good rhythm, then lead a fun flute choir rehearsal, focusing on best practices for ensemble playing.
This is a free session, open to intermediate to advanced level flutists ages 15 and up. Those who attend are invited to join our Flautrageous Flute Ensemble to perform the rehearsed piece at one of our December concerts at The Music Settlement.
ABOUT OUR SPECIAL GUEST
Altus artist George Pope has taught flute at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory since 2002 and is emeritus professor of flute at the University of Akron where he was on faculty from 1978 to 2013. Pope was principal and solo flute of the Akron Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 2002 and is currently principal flute of the Blossom Festival Orchestra. He has also performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Ohio Ballet Orchestra, the Cleveland Philharmonic, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera Cleveland, the Tulsa Philharmonic, the New Mexico Symphony, the Monteux Festival Orchestra and the Brevard Music Center Orchestra.
