January 11 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Bowie Benefit for BOP STOP. Celebrating David Bowie's life, music and legacy, we present an All-Request Night putting the audience in the driver's seat with contests, trivia, prizes and surprises. Tonight's audience will direct the presentation through Bowie's chameleonic phases, then decide on which Bowie favorites they'd like to hear from special guests Vanity Crash during their live concert set. And best of all, proceeds from the evening will benefit a good cause.
Acknowledging the fourth anniversary of our Bowie shows at BOP STOP, proceeds from tonight's show will be donated to BOP STOP and The Music Settlement to assist with their mission to offer music instruction, early childhood education, and music therapy services serving a diverse clientele from three weeks old to retired adults and veterans. We are inspired by their historical role as a part of the Settlement Movement to welcome immigrants to Cleveland and unite them through the common language of music.
January is David Bowie Month. Presenting seven events in the first two weeks of January, 2020, musicologist Thomas Mulready and glam rockers Vanity Crash explore David Bowie from all angles, including shows celebrating Bowie’s birth (January 8) and death anniversaries (January 10), his most sensational era (Ziggy Stardust), in-depth surveys of his entire life and legacy, a special benefit show, plus two Sunday Bowie Brunches focusing on the much-overlooked second half of David Bowie’s remarkable life and career.
Bowie Benefit for BOP STOP features a meticulously researched and highly entertaining presentation by Bowie aficionado Thomas Mulready on the life of David Bowie and the stories behind his music, featuring rare video, music, needle drops, trivia, contests, giveaways and audience interaction. Each show is capped with a live music set by Cleveland’s glam punk superstars Vanity Crash, featuring a number of Bowie hits and obscure album tracks, side by side with the band’s own stunning original material drawn from their five releases. Proceeds from the evening will benefit BOP STOP and The Music Settlement.
