Minneapolis-based guitarist and composer, Will Schmid, has been presenting his original music at venues throughout the Twin Cities for the better part of a decade. His duos, trios, and quartets frequently headline popular Minnesota jazz series including Saturday Night Jazz at the Black Dog and the illicit Jazz Workshop, and he has led ensembles at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival and Iowa City Jazz Festival. He has played with Jay Epstein, Greg Lewis, and Dean Magraw, and his bands have opened for Eric Kamau Grávátt, Billy Peterson, and Dave King. Recently, Schmid brought his original music to Matthew Garrison's world renown Brooklyn, NY venue ShapeShifter Lab, and released the album Non-Trivial Problem with Twin Cities modern jazz collective SPACE.
For January 22, Schmid presents a special Ohio edition of his quartet featuring Toledo-based pianist Ben Maloney (Talking Ear) and a Cleveland-based rhythm section comprised of bassist Morgan Fox and drummer Evan Mitchell.
