Sam Blakeslee's newest genre-spanning chamber project, Sam Blakeslee & Wistful Thinking – The Long Middle featuring Chris Coles (alto saxophone), Brandon Coleman (guitar), and Matt Wiles (bass). The album will be released on the record label Outside In Music in July 2021. The upcoming album features an introspective journey of pastoral melodies and compositions in an intimate chamber-jazz setting, akin to the various small bands of Kenny Wheeler and Bob Brookmeyer. The music draws emotions and sentiments from globally heightened feelings of distance, both geographically and socially.
