After a decade performing and teaching around Texas and Florida, Bryan has returned to Cleveland to reconnect with his roots. He recently graduated from the University of Miami’s renowned Frost School of Music with a doctorate in Jazz Composition. Before that, he studied Jazz Composition at the University of Texas at Austin and flute at Youngstown State University.
Bryan has written for and performed in a variety of traditional and genre-blending ensembles including studio orchestras, chamber groups, large and small jazz ensembles, bluegrass bands, and Brazilian ensembles. With the University of Texas Jazz Orchestra, Bryan performed his original compositions for large and small jazz ensembles at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands. As a Composition Fellow with the Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School, he worked with composer Maria Schneider arranging her music for the HMI Orchestra featuring saxophonist Donny McCaslin.
Bryan is on faculty at Youngstown State University, teaches a growing private studio, and continues to compose for commissions and his upcoming large and small ensemble projects.Back to Calendar
